My first bernese mountain dog has arrived in 2005 as a family pet. She showed me the people-oriented character of berners I felt in love with this breed. My next bernese was Kuplung who had an active, quick to act temperament. Due to her personality we tried out some dog sports such as obedience, protecting work, also tracking and agility. She was my perfect companion dog, I could go with her everywhere because she behaved well and comfortable in new situations. She had so much positive features for me that I committed myself to the bernese mountain dog breed..

The dog pack enlarged in 2014 when Prizma arrived to our team. She had a different personality: calm, nice, intelligent and nothing could disturb her lifestyle. Because of her temperament we participated on dog shows, she tried the therapy dog work and she was clever also in obedience. For a long time she was the oldest bernese and the pack leader.

Our two breeding dogs, Tipli and Smokey are active and curious. They are very people-oriented and do the typical bernese behaviour: sitting backwards on someone’s foot and waiting for attention and love. Apart from dog shows, Tipli and Smokey work nicely in obedience and are often our companions by forest trips. We kept from the first litter their daughter, Fúria, so they are our little pack members.
Goals in breeding of berners
Our goals in breeding are in connection with two important factors which determine our life with dogs. These are the health factor and the character of berners. The longevity of dog’s life has priority by planning a litter. We are also very happy that in our dog’s bloodline there are many long-lived ancestors who lived up to 9-10 years or more

The character of berners is an important factor, too. Because we love them so much, they are nice, friendly and balanced. A well-socialized bernese can be our companion in every situations, including crowded malls, public transports or forest tours. As a result, we put big emphasis on raising our dogs and we care so much for their good mental health and self-confident behaviour.

The puppies are born inside the house – in the living room – and they are under 0-24 supervison. In this period they get to know different noises and situations which are common in a house. After they will be 4 weeks old, the puppies go to he garden for short time. When they get older, they spend more and more time outside to be self-confident with other noises, to meet new people and the adult berners. For the 9th week they learn how to behave in most of the indoor and outdoor situations.

With our puppies we would like to make it possible to new owners they experience the life with a berner, the versatility and lovability of this breed.

How do the berners live with us?
Of course they are our family members, as they love people and want their attention. Because of this breed being intelligent and teachable, they are suited for dog sports. In our case the obedience and IGP obedience match the berners’ temperament, so we train and compete in these dog sports. The preparation for contests and exams is our daily routine and once a week we meet our trainers in the dogschool to develop our dogs and we are preparing for exams in higher levels. Our berners love it so much.
Apart from daily trainings it’s important for the dogs to be physically fit, so we often go hiking in the forests with them. We take our berners to malls, restaurants, cafés and stores if we have chance, so they always are our companion.
